The VinePair Podcast: Does It Really Take Longer to Get a Drink Now?

When bartending, should speedy service or ensuring guests are having a good time be the priority? To that we ask, why not both? After all, part of having a good time at a bar is having a drink in hand, and while being a bartender is a multifaceted job, at the end of the day, they’re there to serve drinks.

Hospitality can mean different things to different people, but there’s one thing we can all agree on: No one likes waiting forever for a beverage. That said, in today’s world where cocktails have become increasingly intricate, speed of service can often be at odds with executing a well-made drink.

On this episode of the “VinePair Podcast,” Adam, Joanna, and Zach discuss the balancing act between bars serving good drinks quickly in a more frenetic environment, versus a slower pace of service with a more chill atmosphere, as well as what some of the causes of slower service might be. Plus, they discuss their personal IPA Mount Rushmores and answer a listener question about the drinks they turn to for celebrations and special occasions. Tune in for more.
