For over five years now, members of the VinePair team have traveled down the East Coast to Charleston, S.C., to both enjoy and participate in the city’s annual Charleston Wine + Food festival.
While the city is well known for dishing up Southern classics like barbecue and shrimp and grits, Charleston has an expansive, vibrant culinary scene influenced by cultures from all over the globe. And you can get a taste of it all at the non-profit festival. Over five days of events, attendees can enjoy a celebration of the state’s locally farmed oysters, order a cocktail at multiple bar takeovers, stuff themselves with Caribbean cuisine, and sit in on plenty of educational workshops. There’s something there for everyone, and the festival just keeps getting better every year.
On this episode of the “VinePair Podcast,” Adam is joined by Alyssa Smith, executive director of Charleston Wine + Food, to discuss the evolving nature of this signature festival and how it pays homage to Charleston’s unique culinary history and influences. Tune in for more.
