The Cocktail College Podcast: The Bianco Negroni

“Cocktail College” is brought to you today by Luxardo Bitter Bianco. Listener, if you’re anything like me, I know you love a cocktail made with a classic Italian red bitter. But it’s time for a fresh approach and a whole new take on one of the world’s most iconic cocktails. Luxardo Bitter Bianco shares all of the same herbal, plant, and fruit infusions as the brand’s Bitter Rosso, but each is then distilled prior to blending before the liquid is infused with wormwood, boosting the bitterness and providing the liquid’s signature ivory hue. I love to use Luxardo Bitter Bianco to make a Bianco Negroni, a vibrant spin on the classic that brings a whole new profile to the mix of bitter, London Dry gin, and vermouth. Head to luxardousa.com today to learn more.

The Negroni and its multitude of variations have won over drinkers around the world, delivering unique, complex, and bittersweet profiles. For bartenders, the Negroni’s three-equal-parts formula has proven a serious source of inspiration, leading to creations such as the rum-spiked Kingston Negroni, the iconic Blue Negroni served at NYC’s Temple Bar, and, of course, the White Negroni. Well, we’ve got another to add to the mix today: the Bianco Negroni (or the Negroni Bianco, if you will). Despite the similarities in the name, this drink actually shares only one ingredient in common with Wayne Collins’ modern classic, the White Negroni.

Here to talk us through its composition is the global ambassador for Luxardo, Gareth “G” Franklin. Given G’s place within the brand, our conversation leads us to explore Luxardo’s place and influence in cocktail culture. Plus, we’ll turn the clocks back for some fascinating snippets of history stretching back to World War II. But before we can do that, add a bottle of gin, a rocks glass, and a large clear cube to your freezer and prepare for an all-new edition of the “Cocktail College” podcast. Tune in for more.
