The VinePair Podcast: Is Craft Beer’s Optimistic Tone Defensible or Delusional?

In the dawn of the post-Covid landscape, the beer industry was poised to see what its new normal would shape up to be. Unfortunately, thus far, it’s been a whole lot of nothing. Craft beer sales have been slipping, and the tried-and-true path of “instant profit ahead” by cranking out IPAs isn’t working like it used to. Breweries that have the funds to do so are now diversifying their portfolios with hard teas, flavored malt beverages, and more to stay afloat, but the path ahead for beer itself is anything but clear. Regardless, brewers and business owners remain remarkably upbeat about the future of the industry.

On this episode of the “VinePair Podcast,” Joanna and Zach are joined by VinePair contributing editor and “Taplines” host Dave Infante to break down the surprising level of optimism present at this year’s Craft Brewers Conference. With stagnant sales for craft beer, what exactly prompted all these good vibes? Tune in for more.
